Husein Moloo, MD

Dr. Husein Moloo is a colorectal surgeon at The Ottawa Hospital and the inaugural Director of Planetary Health at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. A national leader in sustainable healthcare, he co-chairs the CANMEDS Planetary Health Committee, helping integrate planetary health into medical training across Canada. Dr. Moloo has led pioneering educational initiatives, including a longitudinal planetary health curriculum at uOttawa and co-leads the Cut the Carbon campaign involving 45 Ontario hospitals to reduce the carbon footprint of surgical care. Chika Stacy Oriuwa, MD

Dr. Chika Stacy Oriuwa is a physician, nationally ranked spoken word poet, and thought leader known for her powerful storytelling on leadership, connection and wellness. An advocate for health equity and institutional change, Dr. Oriuwa holds a Master’s in Health Systems Leadership and Innovation and serves on multiple boards advancing equity and workplace wellness. She is the author of Unlike the Rest, her memoir of becoming, belonging and being seen on her journey as a medical leader. Dr. Nadia Salvaterra is an Edmonton-based family physician and Associate Chief Medical Officer with Primary Care Alberta. A former Associate Zone Medical Director and Department Head of Family Medicine with Alberta Health Services, she brings extensive experience from both Alberta and the Northwest Territories. With a Masters in Health Economics from the London School of Economics and LEADS Global certification, Nadia is passionate about advancing access, equity and physician leadership, and serves as faculty for the Physician Leadership Institute.

Dr. Anurag Saxena, Professor and Associate Dean, PGME, has credentials in coaching, leadership development, analytics, LEAN and EDI. He is engaged in leadership research (with numerous peer-reviewed publications) and leadership development work at local, national and international levels through workshops and courses. He has extensive experience in governance, leadership and management including influencing change, and developing and implementing policy and strategy. Myles Sergeant, MD, FCFP, P.Eng.

Dr. Myles Sergeant, a family physician, has worked with vulnerable populations including individuals experiencing homelessness, addictions and the elderly. He addresses the intersection between environmental issues and health, co- founding Partnerships for Environmental Action by Communities within Healthcare, Trees for Hamilton (charity 2012), and Shelter Health Network (not-for-profit 2005). Myles serves as the Executive Director of the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care and the Postgraduate Medical Education Lead for Planetary Health at McMaster University.
Linda Snell, MD, MHPE, FRCPC, MACP, FRCP

Dr. Linda Snell, a consultant in general internal medicine, is a clinician educator and education scholar across the education continuum. She has served in numerous education and clinical leadership roles at McGill, nationally and internationally. She was founding developer of the Canadian Leadership Institute in Medical Education and McGill’s Leadership Development Program. Her interests include learning, teaching and assessing the CanMEDS competencies, particularly the Roles of Professional, Leader and Scholar, and leadership in medical education.

Dr. Gino Somers has extensive experience in medical leadership and currently serves as President of the International Pediatric Pathology Association. He is an advocate for well-being-centred leadership and is actively seeking solutions to prevent burnout and improve well-being of physicians and learners. He has received both the President’s Award and the Citizenship Award at SickKids for his work in peer support.

Dr. Lyn Sonnenberg is a neurodevelopmental paediatrician, clinician educator and the co-author of Carefully Chosen Words: Language for Inclusive Care. A Professor Emerita at the University of Alberta, she has held national leadership roles in medical education and health systems, including with the Medical Council of Canada and the RCPSC. Dr. Sonnenberg is a founding member of the Equity in Health Systems Lab, where she works to transform communication, culture and care through equity-informed practices.

Dr. Stephen Swensen is a recognized expert, speaker and inter-disciplinary researcher in wellbeing, leadership and organizational development. For 35 years he served patients at the Mayo Clinic as a clinician, scientist, educator, and leader. His most recent book features a blueprint for co-creating ideal work (Mayo Clinic Strategies to Reduce Burnout - 12 Actions to Create the Ideal Workplace). He serves as a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and a Transformational Fellow at The NARBHA Institute.
Angela Tecsun, BScN

Angela Tecsun leads physician partnerships and ACS-NSQIP. With nearly two decades in surgical nursing and QI, she co-led the Physician Quality Leaders initiative and helped expand ACS-NSQIP nationally. Angela teaches QI and statistics, developed the PQI Alumni Network and Curriculum, and holds a Master’s in Medical Statistics and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Her award-winning work supports physician leadership and healthcare improvement across Canada.
Martin Wale, MD
Dr. Martin Wale is a UK-trained medical microbiologist and public health doctor, with a background in building successful research partnerships. A career-long innovator, he was recruited to Canada in 2009 to work on hospital-acquired infection and build the research program at Vancouver Island Health Authority. He now runs a consulting and executive coaching business.

Dr. Kevin Wasko is the Chief of Emergency Medicine and Program Medical Director at North York General Hospital. Having completed fellowship training in both clinical quality improvement and public policy, he has a keen interest in health system improvement. Dr. Wasko was the physician co-lead on the Saskatchewan Health System Transition Team in 2017 when the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) was established and later served as Physician Executive for Integrated Rural Health.

Dr. Dave Williams is the Executive Medical Director of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety at Fraser Health Authority. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia and holds advanced degrees in experimental medicine and business administration. Dr. Williams specializes in pulmonary and sleep medicine and previously worked as an intensivist and Program Medical Director for Fraser Health’s Medicine Program. Trained as a patient safety officer by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, he has been a national and international surveyor with Accreditation Canada since 2010.

Dr. Jennifer Williams is a practicing gastroenterologist and has held leadership, advocacy, wellness and system transformation roles including Board Director Alberta Medical Association, Deputy Department Chair, Provincial Affairs-Diversity, Wellness, Development, and Physician Associate at Well Doc Alberta.
As faculty with the Canadian Medical Association, she facilitates sessions on leadership for healthcare culture transformation and is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia. She holds additional certifications in psychological safety, quality improvement, PROSCI change management and is Chief Wellness Officer certified from Stanford. Dr. Williams holds additional training in restorative practices and is co-creator of SAFER trauma-informed leadership and Leadership that CARES frameworks.
